Amazon Made Me Do It
The Amazon Problem!
I said publicly on my blog that I was stepping back from Amazon. I didn’t really give a detailed explanation, just a decision I made and meant. I haven’t been active on my Amazon storefront for several months now and it was generating real income for me, but I needed to stand behind what I believe.
But here’s the honest part…not shopping Amazon has been hard. I’m busy, it’s convenient and it’s often less expensive. Since making that decision I’ve started buying meat from a local butcher almost thirty minutes from my house, going to the farmer’s market, sourcing things locally as much as I can. All of that takes time and I don’t necessarily have the time, but it matters to me so I’m doing it anyway.
But recently, I caved a little…
I’m still ordering a few things from Amazon because life is what it is. And last week I found these pants and ordered them because they are that good. They are Free People dupes and have an on-trend barrel leg, they’re also cropped and a perfect length for me! I love the red bandana print (they also come in blue and this light denim and several other patterns) and were only thirty-six dollars. I styled them with a white tee, my band jacket from Boston Proper (truly a favorite this season), flip flops from Tkees and my vintage Chloé bag. They look like they cost ten times what I paid!
You can shop the entire look here!
So here’s where I’ve landed…I’m not going to be rigid about this. I’m going to keep supporting local businesses, keep making the inconvenient choice when I can, and I’ll occasionally order something from Amazon when it makes sense. That’s the truth and I’d rather be honest about it than pretend I have it all figured out. It’s definitely not as easy as I thought it would be!
Most of the outfit is made up of pieces purchased from other places and I think it’s just so cute and very wearable!
Have you tried to quit Amazon…how did it go? I’d love to know your thoughts!
Thanks so much for reading today!

Cancelled Amazon prime after the election and have limited my Amazon purchases to things I actually can't get at Costco, Macys, or in local businesses. The Amazon deliveries come but far, far, far less! I steer clear of Target and Walmart as well. I love to shop, preferably online, and I have favorite brands, so now I go directly to their websites. No middle man. I feel better for taking a stand, in my own way.
